Ludovic Cesari’s first monograph intuitively weaves together a tapestry of disparate images, through oblique strategies and related visual narratives. The photographs are at once personal and ambiguous. They were taken by a singular photographer, for whom there is an instinctive and recurring allure—an emotion or a feeling—that draws him to make his pictures. The work is a subjective response to the nature of existence, a delicate balance between the intangible and experiential. Its underlying themes—death, religion, absence and longing—are represented through metaphor, motif and tangential, poetic reflection, rather than polemic reaction.
